DRUMMING JUNE 21ST 2008

June 8, 2008

THERAPEUTIC DRUMMING FOUNDATION
Drumming. Woodthorpe Park.
Midsummer’s Day 21st June 2008

We have been asked to organise some drumming as part of the Sherwood Festival.

There will be a stage or performance area at the top of the hill where various people will be performing during the afternoon. There will be an area at the Mansfield Road end designated for the TDF to run drum circles

We were given the task of opening the festival at 12 noon with a “performance” from the stage – running workshops from our stand during the afternoon and then doing another “performance” later in the afternoon. Obviously we may need to carefully time our workshops so as not to interfere with any other groups performance.
I intend to use the performance slots to do participation stuff. I need a few bass drummers to join with me in those slots – on the “stage” - let me know if you would like to be included

So – here’s the plan
10.30
During the morning – from 10.30 onwards – if anyone would like to wander up and down Sherwood shopping area drumming a little and publicising the event – please do
Noon
At noon the festival opens to the sound of the drum.
What would be great would be to have drummers scattered around the park – the bass drums start a call and response and drummers converge upon the stage area. I hope we will get some people who are not drummers yet – or don’t know that they are – bringing along anything to make a sound with and joining in.

Early afternoon
Drum circles at various intervals – times to be posted on the day

3.45 – 4.15 (provisional time)
Drumming from centre stage again – trying to get as many people as possible to participate
We need as many of our friends there as possible – if you would like to assist on the day – looking after drums – taking care of new drummers – lots of other jobs – it would be great - and if you want to just drum – that’s fine too.

This is part of a community event which should be great fun – it is also an opportunity to publicise drumming.
OH – YES – I NEARLY FORGOT – THERE IS ALSO A BEER TENT!!!!!!
