News From The Therapeutic Drumming Foundation

If you are receiving this newsletter it is for one or more of the following reasons:

•   You have attended some of our workshops
•   We just thought you might be interested
OR
•   We made a mistake
Assuming that we haven’t made a mistake (if we have please let us know) then first we would like to let you know about the three opportunities between now and Christmas to take part in our introductory course in Therapeutic Drumming.
Here are the dates! Sign up now for any of these dates You will probably want to ask us if you qualify for a discount. We can also let you in on a deal with a local hotel where you can stay in comfort at very low cost whilst on the training

Dates for introductory course
17th/18th/19th October
or
21st/22nd/23rd November
or
12th/13th/14th December

There is a table below of the dates of our other training in therapeutic drumming during 2008 and 2009. But first – other news.

We have moved.
Yes – we have moved out of t’Mill and now have accommodation with The Art Organisation in Nottingham. This is a charity group who “do up” derelict buildings and rent out the space to people involved in the arts. At the moment we are working hard to get the place fit for habitation. This has involved first of all persuading the pigeons to move out.

Drum Circles
We will still be holding regular community circles – as always based on the idea that ALL are welcome. Some will be at our new base – others will be at the community centre in Stapleford . dates to be posted on the website – or let us know if you would like a list sending to you.

Other Training
Last year we expanded our range of training into creative therapeutic work. We hope to continue that after Christmas and add in various other things such as, continuing professional development for therapists, counsellors and other professionals: personal development workshops and community music making, Watch this space.

Sharing space
We have one room which we won’t be using all of the time. It is suitable for use as a counselling room and has various other possibilities. We are willing to consider other people using that room. This is a city centre location – just next to the rail station and the tram terminus.

You want to run workshops?
There are opportunities to run workshops either within our programme or as an independent practitioner with our support

3. We try to keep costs as low as possible for everyone but we are willing to consider discounts in certain circumstances

4.   We can deliver this training on a “we bring it to you” basis if you require. If you were to do the local organising of a group we could negotiate a suitable fee. Please contact us for an informal discussion if you would like to take this option.

The guided learning hours are made up mainly of attendance at group training sessions but can also support tutorial guidance and other activities. The proportion of these activities will depend on the needs of the particular group.
Students will also be required to undertake a considerable amount of personal study beyond these hours.

The courses build on each other. It is necessary to complete each level successfully before progressing to the next.
There may appear to be some repetition in the programme due to the fact that similar material will be being studied at deepening levels.

The TDF aims to promote the benefits of drumming as a form of therapy through training and the sharing of information
